Dinner Conversations

Dinner last night at our house was not a very enjoyable event. Kids not sitting still, playing with the dog, picking at their food....mom was about to lose it! So while in bed I thought of doing this...

Put in questions that are appropriate for your kids ages. Since my kids are young there are questions like:
What do you want to be when you grow up?
What is your favorite book and why?
Did you make someone smile today? If so what did you do?
Did someone make you smile?
What is one thing you learned today?

This is a great way to get your kids talking and making them feel like you care about what's going on with them. Hopefully dinnertime at our house tonight will go a lot different!

Beckie you are the best mom I know. I realize sometimes raising kids is extremely exhausting both physically and mentally. I think it is wonderful that you are always trying to find something that will make life in general more exciting. What a great way to have dinner conversation with your family...I love the fact that they are not yes or no questions...they actually have to think about what to say. GREAT JOB!!!!

I really love that idea! My boys and hubby would certainly get a kick out of that!

Dinner at our house goes about the same way. THough it never fails the kids have to get off on some potty talk tangent, and then we spedn dinner in silence because the kids take it to far. SOOO, I am thinking we need one of these jars to keep the conversation going in a positive direction! Thanks so much for sharing! I will have to link back when I finish one for our family.

Your jar is adorable! My daughter just got a similar game for her birthday, if you need more ideas, let me know and I will go through the tin-although now seeing your jar, makes me want to decorate the tin cute! :)
Thanks for sharing!

very cool idea. I've seen books about this but it just makes so much more sense to make your own and fill it with questions that fit with your/my family! Awesome!
