Smells of the Holiday.....neighbor gift idea!

The countdown is on for Christmas and with a son with a birthday on the 21st and my husbands on the 28th I need to be more than on top of it for Christmas! Ahhhhhhhh!

I am good to have a handle on gifts, but when it comes to the "little things" I can loose track!
*Christmas cards
*Dance team gifts
*Neighbor gifts
*Teacher gifts
*Yummy treats and baking
*Etc....etc....etc

Here is what I whipped up this year for my neighbors.  I got this great idea off of Pinterest (of course)
Her blog can be found here.

It is a bag filled with sweet Christmas yumness!

*One whole orange
*1/2 cup cranberries
*1 Tbsp. whole cloves
*Cinnamon sticks
*A bit of nutmeg if desired

Put all of the ingredients together in a cute bag and add a little instructions and a cute tag and you are good to go!

This little bag of goodness will last ALL season long.  I have had mine for a week now and it's still going strong :)

Letters like these can be found at any local craft store.  These one specifically...Michaels.

Advent Calendar Ideas

This is our family advent.  I LOVE it!  Each window, chimney, tree pops open to a little compartment.  We bought this at Costco for $10.00 a couple of years ago.....crazy!  Normally it's filled with candies for the kids, but this year I've decided to do something different.  Instead of candy I am putting in slips of paper of a kindness the kids need to do the next day for someone.  Our lesson in church yesterday was on the spirit of CHRISTmas and it got me thinking that I don't do enough to focus on the reason for the season.
I would love to know what you do to bring more focus on family, friends, giving and everything else that is wonderful that goes along with the Christmas season.

These are a few of my favorite things...

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

You probable have seen this post on these jars. Well for Christmas I take some sugar and add a few drops of food coloring and voila! I also really love my stocking hangers from Gardner Village. I was shopping will my parents and mentioned how cute they were, but could afford the five of them at almost $20 a pop....my mom and I were shopping in another store when my dad walked in with all five in a bag just for me......awwww!

Every winter I become slightly obsessed with Stephens Mint Truffle hot cocoa. Along with candy cane peppermint Hersey kisses....holy yum!

Also for a family tradition we get ornament for each member of the family that represents something each person did that year. These ballet shoes were from last year when my girls started dance.

The Christmas Spirit

I found this on my nightstand the other night and thought it was the sweetest thing ever...

1....2....3.....Awwwwww :)
Love that girl.
I then saw my 5 year old yesturday talking to our elf Charlie. Her little hands were clasped together under her chin and she was pleading with Charlie that when he reports back to santa to please tell him she wants a Webkinz that is a kitten because hers is missing. Guess what I was purchasing last night around 7?!
Also I came across this...

It is by Greg Olsen and I just love it.

THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS
By the magical light of a small Christmas candle
A little old man tries to carefully handle
The small porcelain manger which serves as a bed
For the wee Baby Jesus to lay down His head.
In wonder he brings the manger up to his view,
Smiles at the baby and whispers, “I love you!
I love you for bringing this season of joy,
I love you for growing to a man from a boy;
For being our light and leading the way,
For being the spirit which makes Christmas Day!
You’ve been my mentor, my model, my hero and guide,
Please continue to help me and stay by my side.
I’ve tried to follow your teachings and give as you gave,
Reminding all to be kind and that it’s wise to behave.
Help me to serve others and bring them your light,
Especially the children, please bless them tonight!
Some have so very little, scarce food for their table,
You know how it feels - you were born in a stable!
Bless all their mothers and fathers with a knowledge that’s sure,
The best gift they can give is their love, strong and pure.
That’s the Spirit of Christmas when all’s said and done,
God’s gift of love, that came as His Son!”
Then back to His mother the child is returned
The Nativity glows as the candle is burned.
In a wink the little old man slips quietly away
Some say he goes up the chimney and climbs in a sleigh.
Whatever the case, His mission is clear -
Give unto others, bringing love and good cheer.
He flies into the night and bids us adieu
Doing for others what Jesus would do!
Greg Olsen - 2009

Hope everyone has a terrific Christmas!
See you next year :)

I {LOVE} getting Christmas cards

I sat and was looking at all the Christmas cards we have gotten over the past couple of days and thought this would be a cute way to display them and not just throw them in a drawer...
It's right by my front door and I use clothes pins to hold them :) I would love a slightly bigger tree to put them on....maybe next year!

Help...

I actually have to go out in the crazy shopping frenzy today.
List of what I need:
Black craft paint.
Picture frame.
Sour Patch kids.
Soap.
lol...interesting list I know.
I am scared.
Wish me luck.
