Great Mother's Day Gift!

Mother's Day is just around the corner! I can't believe we are into the middle of April!
Well this next project is something I made for my dad last Father's Day, but could easily be done for that mother in your life!
I bought my frame at Michael's, make sure it comes with a matte board already in it! I covered the board with some of my favorite paper and Mod Podged over it (love that stuff). I added ribbon and from there I wrote down a bunch of words that best describe my dad (or mother) and also included the names of my brothers and mom and formed it in Photoshop (love that even more than Mod Podge!) I used different fonts and sizes and colors....That is it! Printed it off a Costco for .13 (HELLO) He loved it and it was so easy to do! You could do it for anybody as a gift!

Check out the crepe paper projects in the post below!

Spring paper projects

There are TONS of projects out there using crepe paper. What is crepe paper you ask? Is it just the same as tissue paper? Nope. Here's what Webster has to say about it...

Crepe paper is tissue paper that’s been coated with sizing and then “creped” to create gathers. Sizing is a material such as glue, gelatin, gum, or starch, added to paper pulp or cloth to add sheen and stiffness, among other things. This gives crepe paper a distinct texture and feel, and one quite different from untreated tissue paper.

I had no idea?! I think I might have to go get me some of this crepe paper. Look at all these super cute projects to do with it! Most of them are flowers (it is Spring right) but check out the adorable pom poms!

Mission Organization

First things first. I just have to give a big THANK YOU to all who participated in my Ta-dah Tuesday linky party! I was so excited to get so many of you to link up your great ideas! And also a big THANKS to Diana over at The Girl Creative for giving my party a shout out on her blog....(I know that had a ton to do with my success!) Hopefully you will all come back next week to party some more! Check back on Friday were I will feature some of my favorite links!

Ok now onto the mess...
I am extremely embarrassed by this. Yes, this IS my craft closet. Can I point out one thing though? My kids do get into it. I know. That's no excuse.
People who have come into my home are like "Beckie, how do you keep your home so nice and clean?" Well, I'm here to admit that I am a closet clutter er. Is that even a word? Anyway, yep my house may look clean to the naked eye, but don't you dare open any of my closets! :) Ok, some are cute and organized, but some like this one aren't. Wheew. Nice to get that off my chest :) So last week I was in charge of our Relief Society Meeting and it was on Home Organization & Decluttering. Now before you gasp at the thought of me teaching a class like that, I had a lady come who is a professional...lol. I learn a lot of great ideas and tips and it motivated me to get a move on my closed closet clutterness. (that's not a word either)

So this when from this.....

It just feels good ya know. To have such a yucky space all clean.
A great tip to have before you get started is 3 boxes labeled
Throw away Keep Giveaway
So I will give you the 4 steps that were given to me.

Step 1: Sort
Start with an area small enough to tackle in one sitting.
Remove the items from the area and clean it.
Put the items in the appropriate box.

Step 2: De-Clutter
The most important step! (That's short for chuck the crap! :)

Step 3: Containerize
Containers give each item a home.
Store similar items together.
Items that are used the most get the most convenient locations.
Labels help everyone remember where to return the item.

Step 4: Tidy
Pick up daily. Tune up's regularly

So if your a closet clutter er like me, or just plain on the messy side...I challenge you to tackle a least one area in your house a week!

GLEE!

Is anyone else even remotely as excited to see this tonight as I am?

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I never got into the season last year, but I saw them perform on Oprah last week (that woman can get people to do almost anything I think) and I was hooked. Next thing ya know I'm signing up for Netflix so I can watch the episodes. But only getting one disc at a time was driving me nuts so my sweet hubby bought me the season. I watched it over the weekend and now I'm counting down the hours until it's on tonight after American Idol....am I a geek or what?!
Am I alone in this obsession?

Also, thanks to those who have linked up so far on my first ever linky party!
Check it out below!
